I wish you could be more relaxed, too, Shortzman. It sounds like you have more to be proud of than to be worried about. (Would it stick out in front or straight up because you`re always hard when you wear spandex, or because you`re that big?) I understand your concern about being too obvious, though. I would never think that myself, but there are people in the world who may think otherwise. Has anyone ever said anything or otherwise made you feel uncomfortable, or is this something you just think might happen? I suspect it`s all or mostly in your mind. You were able to wear spandex shorts on your vacation and apparently nothing bad happened. They`re common enough these days -- I see guys wearing them in malls and at the grocery store besides all the more obvious places as well -- so you really won`t be all that obvious I think.

A couple things that I think might make you feel more comfortable wearing spandex in public. (1) Wear black or dark colors of spandex. They don`t show bulges as much.
(2) If it helps, DO wear a jock under your spandex. Quite honestly, that also has a certain sex appeal, and it would certainly appear more modest to others. Maybe you could start this way and when you are very comfortable that way, you may decide to lose the jock. (If I had anything to say, you would lose the jock, as I said before, but you have to be comfortable doing so first, or it just doesn`t make sense.) (3) Do you have friends or buddies with whom you might be able to wear spandex in public? There`s comfort in groups. This could be `contrived`, for example, before or after a shared bike ride. (4) Have you talked to your wife about this? Maybe she could substitute for friends or buddies? (5) If you`re concerned about friends or acquaintances seeing you in spandex, maybe you could go to a different section of town where that won`t be likely? You wore spandex on vacation. I know you didn`t have much choice, but it could help in the `real world` if you knew that no one would judge you personally.

Anyway, just some of my ideas. I have actually used some of them myself, to become more comfortable wearing spandex in public. I hope this helps. Good luck. Do keep wearing your spandex (even if not in public, though that seems like you`re cheating others to me :-)! I`d love to hear how it goes....
